From the Goon Docks to One-Eyed Willy's pirate ship — follow the Goonies on their unforgettable treasure hunt
The Goon Docks
In the "Goon Docks" neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon, a group of close-knit kids face the threat of losing their homes to foreclosure. A wealthy country club plans to expand, forcing families to move away and splitting up the group forever.
The Discovery
During what they believe to be their last weekend together, the group—led by Mikey Walsh—discovers an old 1632 doubloon and a treasure map hidden in Mikey's attic. The map reveals the location of the legendary pirate One-Eyed Willy's long-lost treasure. Seeing this as their only chance to save their homes, the kids embark on an adventure.
The Adventure Begins
Following the map, the Goonies discover that the entrance to One-Eyed Willy's treasure leads through an abandoned restaurant on the coast. Unfortunately, the restaurant turns out to be a hideout for the notorious Fratelli crime family!
Underground Perils
The kids navigate through a series of elaborate and deadly booby traps set by One-Eyed Willy centuries ago to protect his treasure. From giant boulders to rope bridges over chasms, the Goonies must use teamwork and Data's inventions to survive while being pursued by the Fratellis.
An Unlikely Friendship
During the adventure, Chunk is captured by the Fratellis but discovers their secret family member—Sloth, a kind-hearted but physically different son they've kept hidden. Chunk and Sloth form an unlikely friendship, and Sloth eventually helps the Goonies in their quest.
One-Eyed Willy's Ship
After overcoming countless obstacles, the Goonies finally reach a hidden underground grotto where One-Eyed Willy's pirate ship, "The Inferno," rests—filled with treasure! But just as they begin to celebrate, the Fratellis catch up and confiscate everything.
Goonies Never Say Die
With Sloth's help, the Goonies escape the collapsing cave and are reunited with their families on the beach. The Fratellis are arrested. Just when all seems lost, Mikey reveals he managed to hide a pouch of gems—enough to save their homes! As the families celebrate, One-Eyed Willy's ship sails majestically into the open sea, set free at last.
One-Eyed Willy
The Legendary Pirate
According to the legend told in the film, One-Eyed Willy was a 17th-century pirate who amassed a vast fortune of rubies, emeralds, and diamonds. When he was pursued by a British King's armada, Willy fled into a hidden cave system along the Oregon coast. To protect his treasure, Willy engineered a series of elaborate booby traps within the tunnels. He reportedly eliminated his own crew to keep the treasure's location secret, though one crew member is believed to have escaped with a map—the very map the Goonies would discover centuries later in Mikey's attic. The treasure remained hidden until the Goonies, a group of young adventurers, followed the map through deadly traps to discover the Inferno and its precious cargo.
